“For the first time, I saw the general public (in attendance), appreciate and honor black men for being more than just historians, athletes, or celebrities. I saw black men being seen simply for being — for existing.”

Programs for universities

One-Night Celebration of Black Men
Partner with us to create a one-night celebration of the Black men in your university community (students, faculty, staff, parents). The celebration leaves Black men being profoundly seen, heard, valued, and powerful. It leaves Black women and the larger community with a deeper connection to the Black men in their lives. And it unites the entire community in an experience that builds the community’s capacity to envision and create the type of world they’d like to see for/with Black men. Click for more information.
Screenings of Black man in america
Invite us to host a screening and discussion of the short film Black Man in America (see teaser here). After screening the short film, we facilitate sharing of Black men’s stories, leaving Black men validated and acknowledged for who they are and their power. Click for more information.
“Tonight I was able to express my love for someone else and that in turn allowed me to love myself.”

This program is a socioemotional arts program that brings transformative conversations about race and celebrations of Black manhood to young men ages 13-18. During the 8-12 week program, young men reflect on their racial identity and experiences and communicate authentically about their experiences, through storytelling and arts activities. The program culminates in young men working together to co-create a community celebration of Black men & boys and celebratory rituals that will continue after the celebration. “When she said kindness, I don’t think I saw that in myself … that’s not something that I hear or see every day of myself, so to hear a total stranger say that, that makes me feel like I can do anything.”
